i am assumming everyone here uses xp, now, if you defrag, isnt the red supposed to NOT be there after you defrag?, or am i losing my mind?

No, you are right, it should be getting rid of the red, but this is Windows, remember
A better idea is to search google and download a program called "Diskeeper Lite" (there is a regular version too, but it costs money 
). Diskeeper Lite is made by the same people that made the defrag FOR Windows, but it will defrag an NTFS volume in about 12 minutes. Yep, you heard right.
And it does a better job too. And the Lite version is free, it just can't be set to auto defrag (defrag as you work so that you don't have to site and do it occasionally).
