In this tutorial Iīll explain the most understandable way I can about how to make a bootscreen with
BootEditorNOTE: First make a backup of your ntoskrnl.exe in case you do something wrong.
Lets do it!
1) First of all create a copy of your ntoskrnl.exe file in the installation folder of BootEditor, for example C:\BootEditor.
2) Open your
BootEditor, and click File/New Bootscreen and write a name for the folder where will reside your new bootscreen, for example name it "Testing".
3) You will see the original bootscreen now, maybe you wonīt need the Professional text on your new bootscreen, right-click exactly on the Professional Text and select "Delete this (temp) bitmap", now the text is gone. Right-click the Main image and select "Load a new Image", open the image you have edited, (Must be always 16 colors, and 640x480 resolution), now right-click exactly on the progress bar bitmap and select "Load a new Image", load the image that you edited.
4) Now maybe you see the progress bar is not in position, you must drag it exactly inside the frame (the rectangle where the progress bar moves), if you canīt drag it, find an option in the upper side of the window named "Move pr. Bar", check it and try again.
5) When the images are all replaced click File/Make boot exe or click on the button "Make" located below the color palette and put this coordinates:
preview.jpg ( 49.51k )
Number of downloads: 1When you are finished close the program and find the new bootscreen which is inside the "Testing" folder for example. Thatīs it!!
Note: If you donīt need the Professional text on your bootscreen you must delete it as well the Home Edition text (When we deleted it before in BootEditor it was temporary). Open ResHack and open the ntoskrnl you just edited, in the Bitmap tree, expand it and delete resource 10,11, as well 12, if you donīt delete them theyīll show up pretty bad when booting, these are:
10= Professional text on the bootscreen
11= Home Edition text on the bootscreen
12= Other, like Embbeded, Family Edition, and all that, not very important.
You Might also want to make the SP1 version, just copy the SP1 version of the ntoskrnl.exe file inside the BootEditor folder and edit it, BootEditor has a special ability to locate the SP1 version bitmaps.
GOOD LUCK!!
