This is just the quick launch toolbar placed at the top of your desktop with the icons set to large. Here is what you can do to get it:

Right click on your taskbar and make sure you don''t have "lock the taskbar" ticked. Then choose toolbars, and make sure quick launch is enabled (has a check next to it).

Next, click on the start of the quick launch bar and drag it off the main taskbar into the middle of the desktop then park it at the top.

To add any more icons just drag them on to your new OS style taskbar.


Alternatively you can create a folder somewhere on your hard drive and put all the shortcuts you want in it. Then you would right click on your task bar, click on toolbars, and choose New Toolbars. That would allow you to search for the toolbar you want...in this case the folder you just created. After you enable it, just drag and drop that toolbar off of the task bar and park it somewhere else on the screen!

isn't this quick launch toolbar supposed to appear like the rotating icons on themes and visual styles like cherry??? even though i've put a new tool bar and set the visual style to cherry, i can't seem to get a similar screen as on the desktop snapshot of the theme.. can someone tell me what am i doing wrong???

You can get a toolbar with no apps, but to get the pretty icon resizing bit you are referring to, you need a program like y'z dock.
