My keyboard was functioning with the correct key values. After recovering my computer with the XP recovery disk, the [ @ ] and [ " ] characters have swapped keys on my keyboard, while the [ ' ] and [ 2 ] characters remain correctly assigned. I have also lost the 'pounds stirling' sybol above the [ 3 ] key completely, being replaced with [ # ] , while the [ # ] key displays the [ \ ] character.

This is also an occurance on the computer of another family member, and it is not possible to reassign these keys via control panal, and so I can only assume that this is an issue related to Windows XP.

I cannot find information or instuction on resolving this issue, so I am forced to ask if this is a problem encountered by anybody else, and if so, how to overcome it?

Many thanks,
