Microsoft has announced that it will voluntarily replace the power cords for it's popular XBox Console Game System for 14.1 million units worldwide that were manufactured before October 23, 2003. Fewer than 1 in 10,000 consoles have exhibited problems, but of those that had, 30 cases resulted in minor burns, injury, and/or property damage.

The replacement is free from Microsoft.
To order your replacement, you will need the manufacture date and serial number of your console, which is located on the bottom of your XBox. Again, in all regions (except Continental Europe) you only need the replacement cord if your unit was manufactured before Oct 23, 2003. In Continental Europe you need the replacement cord if your until was manufactured before Jan 13, 2004.

For more information, and instructions on how to order your replacement cord, please visit this page on the XBox official website.

Just got done ordering mine.
Need name, address, phone #, email (optional), manufacture date, and serial #. Really not that hard. Just go to xbox.com, and then click the big red and white image towards the right that says "Power Cord Replacement for Xbox". The link in the article is just for more info on the issue itself. smile.gif

Yeah, got an email telling me about it ... I think they still have my 1st Xbox on file.

Since I now have the extremely hard to find - HALO Edition Xbox, I highly doubt that it was manufactured before Oct. 03' wink.gif

... but just to be safe, I'll look at the bottom of the unit when I get a chance. I'm a bit of a procrastinator (sp?) tongue.gif

I don't see a smilie next to your question there fat -- so I would assume your being serious.

Xbox: Home gaming console feature revolutionary graphics and gameplay for all ages. i.e. Nintendo Gamecube / Sony Playstation 2.

Home console gaming goes WAY back ... if you would like a revised history of it ... I can certainly ablige wink.gif

yes you do lol, well we don't just cover XBox Live, there's everything from games, hardware, support to PC problems, information and networking. So, if you are interested just pop along. I think last time you visited we only had about 20 members lol this has grown to 200!! with all the best racers from Moto GP2, even the number 1!!

When you do decide to join us on XBox Live (and I can tell you, you are missing out!!) we have organised leagues and tournaments.

But still people hang about in the arcade lol

BTW, because it's been awhile you prolly don't remember your password!!! PM me on here and I'll change it for you biggrin.gif
