Ok, firstly, at least one of the systems will need a global IP address (i.e. not be behind a firewall). It would seem if you are going to be at home, trying to connect to your office pc, your office pc would need to be accessible on the world wide web to use Internet connect.

The computer you want to control, you will set as a host. The computer that will do the controling will be the remote.

So if you have someone at your office pc and you are at your home pc, the easiest method is this:

1) On your home pc, make sure you are on the remote tab, then right click on "Network, cable, dsl" and choose "Wait for Connection".
2) Have the person at your office pc launch pc anywhere and go to the host tab, then right click on "Network, cable, dsl" and choose "Call Remote".
3) The person at your office pc will then have to enter your IP address in and hit OK.

If you have "Callers" configured on your office pc for Network, Cable, DSL, you will now need to login as a caller.

That's about it. smile.gif

You may need to adjust firewall configurations to be sure you can get through, but generally if at least one pc is accessible via a global IP, you can get it working. wink.gif

Hi there,

Is there any way of automating this to a script or something? What I would like to do is have the host be able to "call remote" but not have to right click on the host and select "call remote" and then type the phone number (or IP address).

is there any way of setting this up so all they have to do is activate a desktop icon?

Thanks,

Daryl

You can set one to wait for a connection, and then leave it waiting. But I don't know of a way to force pc anywhere to automatically call a remote without someone there. Would almost be scary if it could. tongue.gif

Your best bet is to set your home pc instead to wait for a connection, and let your router automatically send any incoming requests to that home pc (for pc anywhere at least, configure the port forwarding in your router), and then at work, whenever you need to connect, just call your home pc.

PC Anywhere, when you disconnect, can have an option "Leave pc waiting for another connection". You can use that so your home pc is always waiting, so you can connect to it whenever you want.

Or you can use something like remote desktop (built into windows) to connect any time you want, but be advised some apps don't work through terminal services too well (the software I support for a living for example won't work through terminal services, which RDP uses).
